Friends of the Circus is a non profit organisation. We hold shows, raffles, busking, special events: Trivia Nights, Curryoke to raise funds.
Our current fundraising goal is to assist the Troupe to attend The Tasmanian Circus Festival.
The Tasmanian Circus Festival
The Tasmanian Circus Festival January 2018, includes 5 days of training with national and international circus artists and coaches and a 3 day festival at which they have been invited to perform. This year will be spent training and creating a show for the festival.
The benefits for the troupe members are enormous:
- An intensive training week with talented coaches in many different areas of circus will consolidate existing skills as well introduce the students to many new circus skills.
- To be able to see themselves in comparison to other young circus performers will be a positive motivator for building passion and creating new goals.
- The chance to perform amongst a circus community and receive feedback from that community is a valuable tool in enhancing their performance skills.
- Presentation to the circus community at the Tasmanian Circus Festival highlighting their achievements, experiences and sharing the knowledge learnt.
The goal is to raise funds to assist with airfares, festival tickets, food during the training week, creating costumes, sets and props, funding the Mid-Year and End of Year shows which will be practise runs for the Festival performances. This is our major fundraising goal for this year.
We are determined to make this a reality for them and aim to be able to subsidise costs so that all interested troupe members can participate.
We also are raising funds to buy the following equipment and costumes:
- Trampoline wall
- Stilting costumes
- Flying trapeze costumes
